Republican Louisiana Governor and presidential candidate Bobby Jindal, whose recent statement, “immigration without assimilation is invasion” is making headlines, spoke with Breitbart News Daily today about his campaign.

Asked by host Stephen K. Bannon if that message seems to be resonating with voters, “I absolutely think it is,” said Jindal.

“The reality is, we know why the Left wants open borders and amnesty and even issues like Common Core,” added Jindal, “… there are a lot of Republicans in DC that want those things and the reason is that you’ve got big business interests that want that and they threaten these Republicans candidates, saying if you’re not for amnesty, if you’re not for open borders, if you’re not for Common Core, we’re not going to support your camapigns.”

“It’s time for us to stand up to those special interests,” he concluded.

Jindal stressed that the GOP should not be the party of big government, nor should it be the party of big business, saying, “I think more and more Americans are seeing exactly that we need a secure border. We need to insist upon assimilation. We must not let happen in the United States what we are seeing happen in Europe. So, absolutely, I think that message is resonating.”

Jindal faulted Republican leadership in Washington for saying one thing to get elected, then doing another once they’re in office. He cited that as a root cause of the GOP bases’ considerable anger with the establishment right now.

He also pointed out how they pleaded with the base to give them majority so they could fight Obama, then they got back to DC and “waved the white flag of surrender on immigration, on ObamaCare, on the bad Iran deal, on Planned Parenthood. I think it’s one of the reasons why Republican voters are so angry….”

Jindal cited the success of his Iowa townhalls, saying, “We’re building a movement there.” He said he is seeing a sense of urgency there, as well as across the country that “America is slipping away….”

“It’s the fact that the Left is trying to change America. You see it in a Supreme Court that thinks they’re smarter than God when it comes to defining marriage. Planned Parenthood is selling baby parts across the country. A record number of Americans on food stamps. Eighteen trillion dollars of debt. EPA trying to regulate the water in our backyard and the President won’t even say the words ‘radical Islamic terrorism.'”

Jindal said we’re “turning the American dream into a nightmare,” citing more of Obama’s domestic and foreign policy agenda. “There’s just this concern that the idea of America is slipping away in front of us. But secondly, there’s also  a sense of hope that it’s not too late. There’s a sense of urgency that we’d better fight for our country while there’s still time left. But we don’t have a moment to waste.”

Crediting the Left with being willing to “force socialism down our throats,” Jindal said he believes people are looking for conservative leaders with that same sense of urgency and backbone who will fight back just as hard “for America and freedom, as the Left is fighting for socialism and to change the idea of America.”

Jindal added that the hour is late for America but not too late, saying we can’t elect a big government Republican at this critical time. The complete Bobby Jindal interview with host Steven K. Bannon and guest host “Duck Dynasty’s” Alan Robertson can be heard below.
