A New Jersey man was arrested Thursday for allegedly owing almost $21,000 in unpaid tolls.

A Port Authority police officer on patrol said he saw James Clicerio, 59, of Old Bridge driving a white Mercury SUV through the Outerbridge Crossing toll booth on Staten Island at 7 a.m. without paying his toll, NJ Advance Media reported.

When the officer conducted a stop, he reportedly learned that Clicerio held five different E-ZPass accounts with 323 violations, totaling $20,869 in tolls and fees.

Police arrested Clicerio and charged him with petty larceny and obstructing governmental administration.

It is unclear whether Clicerio has an attorney to represent him, the Associated Press reports.
