A South Carolina single mother’s photo of her rent receipt has gone viral after she posted a message saying that instead of buying into the latest trend with the money from her tax return, she used it to pay rent to keep a roof over her family’s head.

Christina Knaack, of Gaffney, never expected what would happen next when she posted the receipt for $5,400 that she spent on rent for the remainder of 2017, WHNS reported:

“Instead of buying my kids the latest Jordans or fancy electronics I paid my rent for the YEAR,” she said.

Knaack’s post received more than 29,000 reactions, 17,000 shares, and 3,700 comments in the span of 12 hours.

Knaack was shocked by the response.

“It’s pretty crazy,” she said. “I was just sharing a milestone with my friends and family.”

Knaack said the response she has received has been positive, and she hopes to spend what she would have paid in rent on activities with her family.
