A woman from Atlanta, Georgia, is accused of putting her two small children in a burning oven and killing them because she could not find a babysitter.
Lamora Williams, 24, was arrested for allegedly putting her two children, Keyante Penn, two, and Ja’karter Penn, one, in an oven and turning it on, roasting both little ones alive, the Daily Mail reported.
Williams reportedly quit her job last month because she could not find a babysitter for her children while she went to work. Friends told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that Williams said she was fed up and “couldn’t do it anymore,” referring to dealing with her children.
On October 14, the woman reportedly sent the children’s father a disturbing video showing the babies unresponsive on the floor of Williams’ apartment. He immediately called police.
“After I seen what I seen, you know I called the police,” Jameel Penn told the media.
By the time police arrived, the children were dead and showed signs of burn marks all over their bodies.
Penn also noted how heartbroken he is by his children’s deaths. “I ain’t got no soul no more,” he said.
Williams initially tried to tell police that the children had died in someone else’s care, but the story quickly fell apart.
She was soon arrested for the murders and taken to the Fulton County Jail, where she waived her first appearance in court on felony murder charges.
Friends and family say that the suspect suffers from undiagnosed mental health issues. They also urge authorities to place Williams on a suicide watch.
