'2016' Producer Blasts Documenary Oscar Choices for Liberal Bias

Veteran film producer Gerald Molen wasn’t surprised his documentary hit “2016: Obama’s America” didn’t make the cut for Oscar consideration this year.

That doesn’t mean the Oscar-winner isn’t ready to call out his own industry all the same.

“The action confirms my opinion that the bias against anything from a conservative point of view is dead on arrival in Hollywood,” Molen told The Hollywood Reporter.

Molen’s film, which called into question President Barack Obama’s radical past, out-earned the 15 documentaries made eligible for an Oscar this year combined. That wasn’t enough for those who select the films to be in the running for the coveted statuette.

“2016” star Dinesh D’Souza jokingly thanked the voters for the snub.

“By ignoring 2016, the top performing box-office hit of 2012 and pretending that films like Searching For Sugar Man and This Is Not A Film are more deserving of an Oscar, our friends in Hollywood have removed any doubt average Americans may have had that liberal political ideology, not excellence, is the true standard of what receives awards.”
