Celebrities took to social media on Wednesday to celebrate after U.S. Treasury Secretary Jack Lew decided to replace Andrew Jackson’s image on the $20 bill with that of abolitionist Harriet Tubman.
Stars including Orange is the New Black actress Uzo Aduba, along with Scandal and Grey’s Anatomy showrunner Shonda Rhimes posted celebratory messages on Twitter Wednesday praising the change. Tubman, the 19th century abolitionist and leader of the Underground Railroad, will be the first woman to appear on U.S. currency in 100 years.
Here are some reactions from Hollywood:
"And I prayed to God to make me strong. And able to fight. And that's what I've always prayed for ever since." #HarrietTubman 1865

I wish Harriet Tubman knew she was on the $20 bill. Couldn't have made a better choice. Pretty fucking amazing historical evolution.
