Katy Perry Begs Democratic National Convention to Vote for Hillary Clinton

Longtime Hillary Clinton supporter Katy Perry took the stage on the final night of the Democratic National Convention and urged the packed audience to vote for the Democratic nominee, before performing two hit singles.

“Both of my parents are pastors and staunch Republicans,” Perry told the audience.

After admitting that she is not formally educated, the singer said she knows she is voting for Hillary Clinton for president.

“I didn’t finish high school,” the “Firework” singer said. “Unfortunately, I don’t have a formal education. But I do have an open mind, and I have a voice. I’m asking you to have an open mind and to use your voice. … Here’s how I’m going to use my voice: I’m going vote for Hillary Clinton.”

Perry played her new song, “Rise,” which was followed by a performance of her song “Roar.”

While several celebrities and entertainers threw their support behind Clinton’s rival, Bernie Sanders, Katy Perry remained a loyal supporter of the Democratic nominee.

The 31-year-old star has profited from her support of Clinton. According to documents produced by the Federal Election Commission, Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign paid Perry’s production nearly $70,000.
