Time for a Godwin's Law codicil concerning slavery?

I had a chance to see “Django Unchained,” and now that it’s up for an Oscar, it has received a certain degree of official validation as a cultural artifact.  Having read some efforts by the creators of this violent fantasy to portray it as relevant to current politics and culture, I found myself wondering if it might be time for a Godwin’s Law extension to cover slavery.  I also noticed that nobody behind “Django Unchained” seems interested in discussing the truly timeless issue raised in the movie, concerning the relationship between firearms and freedom…
