NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - A power outage snarled rail traffic between Washington and New York City on Thursday morning, stranding thousands of commuters. NJ Transit spokesman Ken Miller said the problem occurred on Amtrak equipment somewhere between Washington and New York, but it was not immediately clear where.
Calls to Amtrak's media relations office were not immediately returned.
Seven commuter rail lines into Philadelphia were stopped and five others had their routes shortened slightly. The lines that were shut down served Delaware, New Jersey and the city's Pennsylvania suburbs.
