Billionaire founder of Apotex, wife found dead in Toronto

Dec. 16 (UPI) — The billionaire founder of generic pharmaceuticals company Apotex and his wife were found dead at their Toronto mansion.

A real estate agent found the bodies of Barry Sherman, 75, and his wife Honey, 70, on Friday. The couple recently put their North York neighborhood home up for sale, with a $5.4 million price tag, the Globe and Mail reported.

The Toronto Sun reported that Toronto Police consider their deaths “suspicious.” But police have not commented otherwise on the incident and a homicide team was not leading the investigation as of late Friday.

Sherman — the 15-richest person in Canada, according to Canada Business online magazine — was worth about $3.7 billion.

“We’ve been informed of the tragic news that Barry and Honey Sherman have unexpectedly passed away,” Apotex said in a statement on Twitter. “All of us at Apotex are deeply shocked and saddened by this news and our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time.”
