LOS ANGELES, Nov. 18 (UPI) — Jaime Gomez, better known as Taboo from the Black Eyed Peas, spoke out about his battle with testicular cancer to tell other patients “You are not alone.”

Gomez, 41, was diagnosed two years ago after experiencing chronic pain and flu-like symptoms.

“I was in good shape. I ate healthy foods, worked out, and even with all that healthy living, it happened,” he said.

After surgery to remove cancer from his right testicle, Gomez underwent intensive chemotherapy to combat the cancer that had spread to his lymph nodes.

“It was grueling,” he said.

Gomez has since partnered with the American Cancer Society and has plans to donate the proceeds from his new single, The Fight, to cancer research.

“I want to be of service,” Gomez said about his new mission.
