Late BBC presenter Jimmy Savile may have raped more than 30 youngsters and sexually assaulted children as young as 10, a joint report by Scotland Yard and the NSPCC is expected to say Friday.
Detectives investigating the scandal have received information from some 589 people, including 450 complaints against Savile, mainly alleging sex abuse.
London’s Metropolitan Police will present their findings later in a 30-page report titled “Giving Victims a Voice”.
Last month, police said a total of 31 allegations of rape had been made against the former “Top Of The Pops” and “Jim ‘ll Fix It” presenter.
Today’s report is expected to allege that children as young as 10 were among his victims and that he may have raped more than 30 youngsters over a 40-year period, The Guardian reported.
It is expected to say that as well as abusing people at hospitals, prisons and the BBC, he allegedly assaulted a victim at a hospice.
John Cameron, head of child protection for children’s charity NSPCC, told The Guardian: “It is very clear that Savile assaulted very young children and that he was a prolific paedophile, there is no doubt about that.”
Police conducting operation Yewtree are also investigating allegations implicating other figures in the entertainment industry which have come to light following the claims against Savile.
Among those questioned by detectives are comedians Jim Davidson and Freddie Starr, PR guru Max Clifford and DJ Dave Lee Travis, who all deny wrongdoing.
