Controversial Tory MP Nadine Dorries became the first contestant to be booted out of ITV reality show “I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!”.
Dorries, a frequent parliamentary sparring partner of Prime Minister David Cameron, lost the public vote to former darts champion Eric Bristow.
The MP’s arrival in the jungle was met with anger at home, where her party and constituents questioned why she was taking time off from work.
On hearing the news, she told presenters Ant and Dec that she “kind of expected to be the first out”.
“I don’t think the public understand how hardcore it is down there,” she said. “The effect on your body when you haven’t eaten properly for days is hard.
“I actually came here slightly self-important for the first few days, but I’ve completely found myself,” she added.
