Turkey’s Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan went into emergency talks with protest leaders late on Thursday after demonstrators rejected his “last warning” to evacuate an Istanbul park at the centre of mass anti-government demos.
Around a dozen representatives of Taksim Solidarity, the core group behind the campaign to save Gezi Park from demolition, were seen entering the prime minister’s Ankara residence for their first face-to-face meeting in two weeks of nationwide unrest, images on local television showed.
