Gunfire erupted in central Kabul after a suicide bomb exploded near the defence ministry during a visit to the city by new US Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel.
“It was a suicide bomb followed by gunfire at the south gate of the defence ministry,” a spokesman for the NATO force said.
