France’s double Olympic gold medallist Yannick Agnel revealed on Friday that he has been swamped by marriage proposals from both women and men since his heroics in the pool at the London Games.
The 20-year-old claimed a surprise double gold in the men’s 200m freestyle and the 4x100m relay with the French team in his first Olympics.
“Through the social networks I got a little over a hundred marriage proposals – guys as well as girls for that matter! It’s terrible. No, it’s great. I find it incredible,” said Agnel, who also took silver in the men’s 4x200m freestyle relay.
The swimmer from Nice saw his Twitter and Facebook accounts inundated by fans, and has now more than 100,000 Facebook friends and 39,000 Twitter followers.
