Canadian consumer prices rose 1.0 percent in the 12 months to March, a slight decline from the previous month thanks to lower gasoline prices, the government statistics agency said Friday.
In the 12 months to February the consumer price index had edged up 1.2 percent.
The slower increase stemmed mainly from gasoline prices, which fell 0.3 percent on a year-on-year basis in March. They had risen 3.9 percent in February.
Excluding gasoline, the index rose 1.1 percent in the 12 months to March, the same as the increase seen the previous month.
