Two-time NBA Most Valuable Player Steve Nash of the Los Angeles Lakers has been diagnosed with a small fracture in his left leg and will be sidelined at least another week, the club said.
The 38-year-old Canadian guard suffered the non-displaced fracture at the head of his fibula in the second quarter of a loss on Wednesday at Portland in a collision with Trail Blazers rookie Damian Lillard.
Nash missed Friday’s 105-95 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers, which dropped the Lakers to 0-3 at the start of a season for the first time in 34 years.
Nash, in his 17th NBA season, joined the Lakers last June from Phoenix in a three-year sign-and-trade deal worth $27 million. Nash was averaging 4.5 points and 4.0 assists before the injury.
