A man was arrested Wednesday in New York on “terrorism” charges, a source familiar with the case said, with US media reporting an attempted attack against the city’s Federal Reserve building.
“I can confirm that there was an arrest this morning in a terrorism case,” the source, who asked not to be identified, told AFP. “The public was never at risk.”
NBC and other US outlets quoted unidentified sources saying that the man was arrested after a sting operation in which he believed he was preparing an attack against the central bank facility in lower Manhattan.
There were no other suspects in the alleged plot, reports said.
