A US general was suspended Tuesday as commander of an army training center following allegations of adultery and a physical altercation, an army spokesman announced.
The action comes as the army is grappling with a cascade of scandals over alleged sexual harassment and abuse.
Brigadier General Bryan Roberts was suspended as commanding general of the US Army training center at Fort Jackson, South Carolina “due to allegations of misconduct,” army spokesman Harvey Perritt said.
“The allegations include adultery and a physical altercation, and are being thoroughly investigated,” he said in a statement, providing no further detail.
Fort Jackson is a base where new recruits receive training.
