Hoffenheim sign defender Abraham from Getafe

Bundesliga strugglers Hoffenheim have signed Argentinian defender David Abraham from Spanish side FC Getafe until 2016 in a deal worth three million euros (US$4m), the club confirmed Tuesday.

The 26-year-old centre-back, who only signed for Getafe from FC Basel in July having won three Swiss league titles over four years in Switzerland, made nine appearances for the Spanish side this season.

Abraham could go straight into the squad to face Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday amidst reports in the German media, Hoffenheim have suspended ex-Germany centre-back Marvin Compper for disciplinary reasons.

The 26-year-old, who is out of contract at season’s end, reacted angrily after being left out of the squad which was held to a goalless draw at home by Moenchengladbach on Saturday, leaving Hoffenheim 16th in the league.
