Police said Wednesday that a total of 31 rape allegations have been made against late TV star Jimmy Savile.
Scotland Yard revealed the figures ten weeks into Operation Yewtree, their investigation into wide-ranging claims of abuse against Savile.
The eccentric host of shows including “Jim’ll Fix It” died last year at the age of 84.
The Metropolitan Police also said they have recorded 199 crimes in 17 force areas in which he is a suspect.
The rape claims span seven different areas, officers added.
Those arrested by officers working on Operation Yewtree include former pop star Gary Glitter, who has been released on bail.
“More arrests nationally will be forthcoming,” Scotland Yard said.
