Indonesia said Monday that inflation in Southeast Asia’s biggest economy eased in November as food prices fell.
The consumer price index (CPI) rose 4.32 percent from a year earlier, down from a 4.61-percent rise in October, said Sasmito Hadi Wibowo, the deputy chief of the Central Statistics Agency.
“This was triggered by the fall in food prices… including chicken, fish and red chillies,” he said.
Month-on-month inflation was recorded at 0.07 percent, from a 0.16 percent increase in October.
Core inflation, which excludes volatile food prices, reached 4.40 percent, down from 4.59 percent in October.
The inflation rate is still within the central bank’s target range of 3.5 to 5.5 percent, allowing the bank room to keep its benchmark interest rate at a record-low 5.75 percent, where it has been since February.
