British and Irish Lions prop Cian Healy will face a disciplinary hearing on Thursday over allegations he bit an opponent during the tourists’ 69-17 win over the Western Force, officials said.
Healy was cited for “acts contrary to good sportsmanship” after Force scrumhalf Brett Sheehan complained he was bitten in the 17th minute of the game in Perth.
The Leinster forward will attend a judicial hearing on Thursday evening in Brisbane, where the Lions are scheduled to play the Queensland Reds on Saturday.
Previous sanctions for biting have been heavy but Healy could be facing a spell on the sidelines anyway after being stretchered off with suspected ankle ligament damage.
The Lions’ official Facebook page said X-rays showed Healy had not suffered a broken bone but the ankle needed further assessment.
It said England prop Alex Corbisiero, currently on tour with his national side in Argentina, had been called in as injury cover.
