Commuters faced further disruption on Tuesday with more snow and ice forecast across large parts of the country.
The Met Office issued yellow warnings in the east, southeast and southwest of England, with up to 10 centimetres of snow predicted in some areas.
Ice is also expected to cause problems, with yellow warnings issued for most of Scotland.
Schools on the Channel Islands closed Monday after an eight centimetre dump of snow.
Icy winds with gusts of over 50 mph were also forecast.
The Environment Agency has in place three flood warnings and more than 30 flood alerts across England and Wales.
