Pittsburgh Steelers offensive tackle Mike Adams was hospitalized after being stabbed Saturday during an apparent robbery attempt but is expected to fully recover, the NFL team said.
Adams was a second-round selection in last year’s NFL Draft and started six of the 10 games he played in his first league season.
“We are aware of the situation regarding Mike Adams being stabbed,” Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert said. “We are in direct communication with both Mike and his family. Mike is expected to make a full recovery.”
Adams said the early morning incident, which took place in Pittsburgh, will inspire him to work even harder for the team.
“I had an angel lookin out for me!” Adams wrote on Twitter. “Ill be ok just gotta fight to get back harder then ever.”
He also tweeted a picture of himself lying in a hospital bed with two bandages over his abdomen. Adams flashed his left thumb up and had a nurse standing next to him.
