British climber dies in Alps

A 42-year-old British man has died in the Austrian Alps after losing his balance and plunging around 200 metres (650 feet) down a steep slope, police said on Saturday.

The man, who has not been named, was hiking with a companion in the Tyrol region in western Austria on Friday. Neither was an experienced climber, police said.
