NEW YORK, Sept. 16 (UPI) — Gigi and Bella Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Adriana Lima, and Karlie Kloss dominated the runway at Marc Jacobs’ New York Fashion Week show on Thursday.

Jacobs’ line featured a mix of textures, patterns and lengths with models wearing high shoes and short hemlines in looks that nodded at 1980s space-age styles.

Jenner walked in a metallic snakeskin trench coat over a mini-dress reminiscent of stick-on earrings from the 1980s, while Gigi was featured in a leather patchwork trench in varying shades of pink and purple.

Each of the models wore their hair piled on top of their head, interwoven with faux-dreadlocks, dyed in an array of 300 shades.

Jacobs is facing backlash for his choice of hairstyles on Caucasian models with some accusing the designer of cultural appropriation.

“I take inspiration from every culture,” said hairstylist and Redken Global creative director Guido Palau, who designed the hair for Jacobs’ show. “Style comes from clashing things. It’s always been there — if you’re creative, if you make food, music, and fashion, whatever, you’re inspired by everything. It’s not homogeneous. Different cultures mix all the time. You see it on the street. People don’t dress head-to-toe in just one way.”
