BOSTON, Sept. 19 (UPI) — Downton Abbey icon Maggie Smith knows host Jimmy Kimmel joked about her absence at Sunday’s Emmy Awards gala and she has released a reply worthy of her countess character.

“We’re not mailing this to her. Maggie, if you want this, it will be in the lost and found,” Kimmel said, referring to the Best Supporting Actress in a Drama statuette Smith won, but did not travel from London to Los Angeles to accept in person.

“I was very astonished and pleased to win the award,” the 81-year-old actress responded the next day in a statement posted on the Masterpiece/PBS Facebook page.

“I feel the Emmys have been overly generous to me. If Mr. Kimmel could please direct me to the lost and found office I will try and be on the next flight. Love, Old Maggie.”
