New York (AFP) – Phoenix Suns forwards Marquese Chriss and Jared Dudley were each fined $25,000 by the NBA on Saturday for their roles in an on-court altercation with Utah guard Ricky Rubio.

The incident took place with 6:55 remaining in the third quarter of the Jazz’s 116-88 victory Thursday over the visiting Suns.

Spaniard Rubio was shoved by Dudley and then pushed to the floor by Chriss, whom Rubio had stepped over after a missed dunk attempt on the prior Suns possession.

Dudley was ejected for committing a Flagrant 2 foul and the NBA fined him for initiating an altercation.

Chriss, who was assessed a technical foul and also ejected, was fined for escalating the incident by shoving Rubio.

Two Utah teammates who rushed to Rubio’s aid, Joe Ingles and Donovan Mitchell, were issued technical fouls in the contest.

Dudley tweeted after the game that he was trying to prevent Rubio from starting a fast break for the Jazz with his push.

“Thought Quese got fouled, Ref gave them the ball while he was on the ground with my other teammate trying to help him up,” Dudley tweeted.

“I wanted to stop the fast break (I always do this) The push was a little much but he flopped and sold it.. Flagrant 1 or 2 and you move on.”
