LOS ANGELES, July 5 (UPI) — Universal Pictures has announced it will release the sci-fi sequel Pacific Rim 2 on Feb. 23, 2018.
The film will star John Boyega — of Star Wars: The Force Awakens — as the son of Stacker Pentecost, the character played by Idris Elba in the original Pacific Rim.
Directed by Guillermo del Toro, the 2013 movie grossed $411 million.
The follow-up is to be helmed by Steven S. DeKnight.
