March 30 (UPI) — One of the most athletic couples in the world officially got married this week in California.
USWNT soccer sensation Julie Johnston got hitched to Philadelphia Eagles tight end Zach Ertz.
The star-studded event took place at the Bacara Resort and Spa in Santa Barbara. Ertz, 26, is from Orange, Calif. while Johnston, 24, was born in Mesa, Ariz. Ertz attended college at Stanford while Johnston was playing soccer at Santa Clara. They were engaged in February 2016.
Ertz signed a six-year, $43.6 million contract last year with the Eagles. The tight end is coming off a career-best 78-catch season when he had 816 yards and four touchdowns. The USWNT has an upcoming friendly at 8:30 p.m. April 6 against Russia.
Those in attendance at the wedding included: soccer stars Christen Press, Alyssa Naeher, Sofia Huerta, Jen Hoy, and football stars Ryan Hewitt, Jordan Hicks, Jordan Matthews, Lane Johnson, and Nick Foles.
