Southampton (United Kingdom) (AFP) – Outstanding England debut spinner Liam Dawson took 3-27 from his four overs, Chris Jordan grabbed 3-29 and Liam Plunkett took 2-27 as Sri Lanka were restricted to 140 all out against England at Southampton on Tuesday.

However, England captain Eoin Morgan had to leave the field with a damaged finger after taking a catch late in the innings and received treatment.

Left-arm fast bowler Tymal Mills went for 22 runs but took no wickets on his debut as he bowled quickly, hitting 92mph plus.

Though Kusal Perera crushed the first boundary off Mills’ first over. However, he did not last long as his mistimed hook from a short Liam Plunkett delivery lobbed a catch to Mills.

Danushka Gunathilaka retaliated by smashing both Plunkett and Mills to the boundary as Sri Lanka’s batsmen tried to up the tempo.

Kusal Mendis clubbed a Jordan full toss just wide of Jonny Bairstow. and the England bowler was hammered for 20 runs in one over..

Gunathilaka made 26 before holing out to Jordan running in from the long off boundary as Hampshire slow left-armer Dawson thrilled his home fans with a wicket.

Angelo Mathews swept straight into aggressive mode with a fine sweep to the boundary off Dawson but the spinner responded with caught and bowled to remove Mendis for 21.

Sri Lanka were 79-3 after ten overs but crumbled as they lost Mathews bowled by Dawson for 11 and Dasun Shanaka run out next ball going for a second run by Jason Roy’s fine throw.

Ramith Rambukwella smashed a six and then a four to spoil Rashid’s figures a little before being run out by James Vince’s direct throw.

Chandimal made 23 before being snapped up by Morgan who then rushed off the field with a damaged finger having taking the catch awkwardly.

The accurate Jordan ensured Sri Lanka were kept to just 140, taking two wickets in the final over to dismiss the tourists.
