Paris (AFP) – British demand added some fizz to second quarter revenue for French champagne producer Lanson-BCC as it uncorked sales up five percent Thursday.

Lanson posted Q2 sales of 45.6 millions euros ($50 million), pushing up total first half sales also up five percent to 88.7 millions euros.

“Following the first quarter’s positive trends, the second quarter confirmed the dynamic level of sales for the Lanson-BCC Group, despite a volatile market environment, particularly in France,” Lanson said.

The firm noted that historically it enjoyed a strong market share in Britain.

It added that consolidated net first half income was expected to be positive.

“However, like each year, it is important to note that Lanson-BCC records around one third of sales over the first six months of the year, but half of fixed costs, and its results at June 30th cannot be representative of the full year.”

The company said it would release full first-half earnings on September 8 after close of trading.

Last year Lanson-BCC saw net profits drop by around a quarter to 12.25 million euros on falling sales.
