Man dies during high-rise graffiti attempt

SACRAMENTO, April 2 (UPI) —

A man in Sacramento died accidentally while trying to vandalize the outside of a high-rise building, police said.

Employees of the building reported seeing a body hanging by a rope outside the 16th floor Monday morning, The Sacramento Bee reported.

The man, whose identity is not being released, accidentally asphyxiated himself with a rope he was attempting to use for climbing purposes, authorities said.

The incident comes 15 days after another man, Andre Petkov, 22, was discovered dead after falling from the Interstate 80 bridge.

Spray paint and other tools were found at the scene, authorities said.

Petkov had been arrested and convicted of vandalism and was a known member of the Sacramento Graffiti Killers, the Bee said.

Authorities said the deaths of the two men do not appear to be related.
