Workers sick after drinking tap water

DHAKA, Bangladesh, June 16 (UPI) —

More than a hundred garment factory workers in Bangladesh fell ill Sunday after they drank water from a tap inside the plant, officials said.

Workers at the East West garment factory in Gazipur’s Board Bazaar area started feeling chest pain after drinking the water at about 10 a.m., Dhaka Tribune Online reported.

Some workers started throwing up, and others had severe headaches.

Officials said 110 workers were admitted to local hospitals.

Gazipur Civil Surgeon Dr. Habibur Rahman said the water could have been contaminated.

The water is being tested, Rahman said.
