RAK Ruler receives Director-General of International Union for Conservation of Nature


WAM Ras al-Khaimah, May 04th, 2013 (WAM)–H. H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras al-Khaimah received today at Al Dhait Palace Julia Marton- Lefevre, Director-General, International Union for Conservation of Nature in the presence of Dr Saif Al Ghais, Executive Director of Environment Protection and Development Authority in RAK.




During the meeting, Sheikh Saud welcomed Lefevre and the delegation participating at the Second World Congress on global warming "Sustainable Cities" to be hosted by RAK from May 5- 7, at Al Hamra Fort Beach Hotel.




The RAK Ruler said the UAE wise leadership cares about the environment and water sector, citing the holding of this conference in the UAE.




Lefevre stressed that the Union is keen on strengthening the ties with the Authority. She added that the conference will focus on the sustainable management of lands and cities, energy, climate change, oceans, natural resources, water and application of the Geographic Information System to support building of sustainable cities.




University students will take part in the sessions of the conference.
