25 Palestinians injured as Israeli police storm Al-Aqsa compound

Ramallah, April 16 (Petra) – At least 25 Palestinians were injured Wednesday morning after Israeli soldiers invaded the yards of the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Palestinian sources said that the occupation soldiers fired tear gas, concussion grenades and firebombs at dozens of Palestinian worshippers and arrested the guard of the mosque, Mohammed Mujahid, after beating him severely.

Witnesses said that the Israeli troops declared their intention to clear the mosque of its Muslim students and those performing prayers in order to allow the extremist settlers break into the yards and perform their Talmudic rituals on the occasion of the "Hebrew Passover holiday."

Director of the Jerusalem Awqaf, Sheikh Azam al-Kahtib, said that the occupation forces allowed a group of tourists and a number of Jewish settlers "to enter the mosque".

Director of Al-Aqsa Mosque, Omar Kisswani, warned against the ramifications of clashes erupting, even more fierce than previous confrontations, and revealed that the real goal of the Israeli troops is to kill young Palestinians present inside the mosque.
