Butter bust of Obama displayed in Chicago

CHICAGO, Oct. 26 (UPI) —

Two Chicago artists said they would push a glass cooler containing a butter bust of President Barack Obama through the city.

Mathew Wilson and Adam Brooks, who moved from England to Chicago, said the butter sculpture, created by Bob Kling, was to be pushed Friday on a route that ended at the Chicago Cultural Center, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.

"We’re bringing two American phenomena together, which is the president and this perennial spectacle of butter sculpting [at state fairs]," Wilson said. "We invite the public to make of that what they will, rather than make a political statement of our own, which would surely be a very dull thing to do."

Wilson said he and Brooks looked "all over" for a butter artist before deciding they had found their man in the Ohio-based Kling.

"It’s like any modeling. Obviously, it has to be a cold environment … ," Kling said.

The sculpture is about 1 1/2-times the size of the president’s head, the artists said.
