Vintage Klemm KL25 plane crashes in Germany, two injured

GROSSHAIM, Germany, July 7 (UPI) —

A restored vintage aircraft, built in the 1920s, crashed near Grossenhain, Germany, injuring the pilot and a passenger.

The Klemm KL25, regarded as one of Germany’s oldest aircraft, crashed while attempting to land Sunday evening. The unidentified pilot, 27, and a passenger 16, were severely injured, police said, and were hospitalized.

Damage to the wooden, single-engine plane was estimated at 300,000 Euros ($408,162). It was owned by a local flying club, which has a collection of vintage planes.

Investigators sought the cause of the crash while the remains of the plane were dismantled and removed Monday.

About 600 examples of the plane were made in Germany, beginning in 1928.
