Berkeley, MO Mayor: No Comparison Between Martin Shooting, Ferguson

Wednesday at City Hall in Berkeley MO, Mayor Theodore Hoskins held a press conference to respond to the officer-involved shooting death of 18-year-old Antonio Martin, the protest that followed,  and the release of surveillance video of the incident.

“I had the opportunity, last evening, to review the video of the incident,” he said. “What I saw in this incident is not what people portray. This is not a policeman in the city of Berkeley, half-cocked, going out. As we say, you know, black lives matter. This was not the case. You couldn’t even compare this with Ferguson or the Garner case in New York. The Garner case in New York they had the video. Ferguson they did not. We have the video. I can assure you that what is on the video is what we’re going use.”
