Chicago Sports Talkers Speculate Race ‘Could Be Part’ of Little League Scandal

David Haugh, co-host of “Kap and Haugh” on Chicago’s Comcast Sportsnet, responded on Wednesday to a question on what would happen in the situation of the Jackie Robinson West  Little League team were compromised of white players. The team, all African-American, was stripped of its Little League World Series USA title, as well as all wins for the 2014 season, for violating a Little League World Series rule for having players on the roster that reside outside of the geographical area represented by the team.

David Haugh stated that he does not have the information to make an allegation, but he thinks it could be a part of the story.

“Well, that’s going to be probably a part of this discussion because the race was a part of the celebration, and it was. They were 13 African-American kids that had done something that no other all-black little league team had done from Chicago. Now, if you’re suggesting that race had played a role in this investigation being pushed, I don’t have enough information to make that sort of allegation. I’m curious about that, though. Your intent is raised, and you do– you would like to know more about that, sure, that’s part of the–that could be part of the story.”
