Krauthammer: Yemen ‘Chemically Pure’ Contradiction of Obama Rhetoric

Columnist Charles Krauthammer argued that Yemen is “a chemically pure counterexample that undermines every assurance Obama has given us” on Wednesday’s “Special Report” on the Fox News Channel.

“Yemen is a chemically pure counterexample that undermines every assurance Obama has given us over the last four years. He said the tide of war is receding, it’s exploding all over. He said Al Qaeda’s on the run Al Qaeda’s decimated, it’s now growing. He said that Yemen is an example of success, it’s an example of our evacuation, our failure. And now he tells us that the deal he’s working out with Iran is going to temper its ambitions, engage it in the world. Look what’s happening Iran has stationed a warship off [the] shore of Yemen. He says its because of piracy. I didn’t know that piracy all of a sudden had become a problem off Yemen. That’s not the problem in Yemen, it’s a Houthi rebellion, it’s a civil war, it’s Al Qaeda on the loose, and it is Iran stating openly and with defiance, that it is going to be hegemonic in the region, exactly at a time when Obama is arguing that he’s working out a deal that’s going to make–that’s going to tame Iran’s ambitions. This undermines everything he says, and ought to make us question the assurances he’s giving now” Krauthammer stated.
