Clinton Spox: Hillary’s Not Saying To Vote For Her On Gender Alone, But Her Gender Gives Her ‘Unique Perspective’

Hillary for America Press Secretary Brian Fallon argued that while Hillary Clinton isn’t saying people should vote for her on her gender, “it does bear relevance, that she would bring a unique perspective being the first woman president” on Wednesday’s broadcast of CNN’s “New Day.”

After Fallon criticized comments by rapper Killer Mike, who is supporting Democratic candidate Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) that “a uterus doesn’t qualify you to be president of the United States,” he was asked about comments by former Secretary of State Madeline Albright about women who don’t support each other having a “special place in hell.”

He responded, “She wrote a whole op-ed in the New York Times trying to explain that that was a statement that she’s made for years, and probably made in the wrong context in the course of this campaign.”

Fallon was then asked, “[W]e do hear this from the Clinton campaign that she’s not saying, ‘Vote for me because I’m a woman.’ And no, she doesn’t ever explicitly say that. But she does say things like, at the debate with PBS, this is the first time there’s a majority of women on stage. She did say things like, at the MSNBC debate, where she says, how can Bernie Sanders say I’m not in the establishment when I’d be the first woman president? I mean, this is something she uses a lot.”

He responded, “She’s not saying — it is not the point of our campaign that anybody should make a decision to vote based on gender alone. However, it does bear relevance, that she would bring a unique perspective being the first woman president.”
