John Boehner 'Could Not Be Closer' to Mitch McConnell, Hasn't Spoken to Ted Cruz Since He's Been Elected

House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH), who said on Sunday that he can “absolutely” get Republicans to pass immigration legislation in the next Congress, believes his close relationship with potential Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) will pay dividends if McConnell wins reelection and the GOP takes back the Senate.

According to Cincinnati.com, Boehner “said his strong relationship with McConnell would prove constructive in a GOP-led Congress.”

“(McConnell) and I could not be closer,” Boehner reportedly said. “We understand each other very well.”

Boehner’s relationship with Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), whom some have referred to as the de facto Speaker because of his influence among conservatives, is reportedly nonexistent.

Boehner has reportedly “not talked to him since he’s been elected” to the Senate in 2012, according to Cincinnati.com

Even though Republicans may take back Congress because of the public’s opposition to Obama’s executive amnesty, GOP establishment advisers and lobbyists are pushing Republican leaders to turn their backs on voters and push comprehensive amnesty legislation if they control Congress.
