U.S. Planes Aiding Search for Girls Abducted by Boko Haram

Manned U.S. planes are flying over Nigeria, aiding in the search for the nearly 300 school girls abducted by Boko Haram.

The girls were taken from a secondary school in Chibok on April 14th.

According to BBC News, a senior US official said, “We have shared commercial satellite imagery with the Nigerians and are flying ISR (intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance) assets over Nigeria with the government’s permission.”

Various FBI and Defense and State Department assets are also in Nigeria to help in the search.

The families of the girls say the majority of those abducted are Christians.

Boko Haram says the girls will not be released unless the release of “jailed militants” is secured in exchange. Leader Abubakar Shekau said, “I swear to almighty Allah, you will not see them again until you release our brothers that you have captured.”
