A Berkeley activist who goes by the Twitter handle @violentfanon, and who was arrested for taking part in protests Monday evening, took to social media to complain about the quality of food he was being served while spending time in the lockup.
This is what they tried to feed us in jail. I saved mine to share it with you all. #Berkeley #BlackLivesMatter #FTP pic.twitter.com/1FoLANUG2Y

Some tweeted sympathy, but others ridiculed and mocked his complaint:
@DonnyFerguson @violentfanon Oh, I’m sorry, did they not have a locally-sourced, artisinal, vegan meal for you?

.@DonnyFerguson @mamaswati @violentfanonWell Durn – I would say the taxpayers are spending too much on jail food.

One tweeter even suggested @violentfanon count his blessings, considering his prison lunch appeared to be much better than the lunches served in schools.
@mdrache @violentfanon Pretty sure school kids all over America are jealous!

Several less-than-appetizing images of school lunches have been floating around Twitter with the hashtag #ThanksMichelleObama:

The jailed activist even complained about the juice that was being served:
@badsushichef I’d kill for some Tropicana juice. We got this. pic.twitter.com/LIb1DgxCl7

His juice was likely in better form than this orange juice served at a school in Kentucky:
This is the “orange juice” at our school. #ThanksMichelleObama #schoollunch pic.twitter.com/JL1XGVonHs

In the end, it appeared @violentfanon was able to make the best of his undesirable situation–at least, before the food incident.
Everyone in good spirits. We sang protester happy birthday. He turned 21 @ midnight. #Berkeley #BlackLivesMatter #FTP pic.twitter.com/dR4gy79zC0
