Maddow Refers to Redskins as 'R-Word'

Last Friday, MSNBC host Rachel Maddow referred to the Washington Redskins as the “R-word” in a segment on her show about a delegate from American Samoa who is relentlessly advocating for a name change.

Breitbart Sports has reported extensively on the efforts of Delegate Eni F.H. Faleomavaega (D-American Samoa) to prompt the Redskins to change their name.

Maddow noted liberal publications like Slate and the New Republic agreed to “no longer refer to the Washington NFL team by their ‘R-word’ name.”

“The Folks at Mother Jones said no more ‘R-word’ for them either,” Maddow said, saying mainstream outlets like the Kansas City Star also adopting this policy. She then said the Washington “Why don’t they change their names” beat the Tennessee Titans by one point in a preseason game.
