Will Santorum Endorse Romney?

During his dropping out speech, former Pennsylvania senator Rick Santorum didn’t do something most Republican insiders were hoping he would do: he didn’t throw his weight behind Mitt Romney. According to campaign spokesman Hogan Gidley, Romney has asked to meet with Santorum to work out arrangements surrounding a possible endorsement.

Romney himself stated that Santorum has “proven himself to be an important voice in our party and in the nation. We both recognize that what is most important is putting the failures of the last three years behind us and setting America back on the path to prosperity.” Romney said yesterday that Newt Gingrich would support him if/when Gingrich drops out. “We’re pretty open-eyed about this, as we talk about where we are at this stage,” said Romney of Gingrich.

Romney did state today that he didn’t “have a list” in terms of his vice presidential choices. “I can’t tell you when, and I can’t tell you who.”
