Peter Schweizer: GAI Report Making White House 'Very Uncomfortable'

On Breitbart News Sunday on Sirius XM Patriot channel 125, Breitbart News Senior Editor-at-Large and Government Accountability Institute (GAI) President Peter Schweizer said White House Press Secretary Jay Carney was “uncomfortable” last Friday in trying to dismiss the stunning GAI report that found President Barack Obama and Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius did not have a one-on-one meeting since the passage of Obamacare over three years ago.

When Breitbart News Executive Chairman and host Stephen K. Bannon said Carney got hammered by ABC and NBC over the report at his press briefing on Friday, Schweizer mentioned that Carney “seemed very uncomfortable” and without firm dates to back up his allegation that Obama and Sebelius meet “regularly.” Schweizer said there has “been no pushback” with solid evidence from the Obama administration or even its allies in the mainstream press.

In response to Carney’s allegation that Schweizer and GAI were engaging in advocacy, Schweizer first noted that he and GAI were being attacked a couple weeks ago by House Speaker John Boehner’s (R-OH) office.

He said GAI was also guilty of being “advocates for transparency and openness” from all elected officials, regardless of political party. And when it comes to the White House, he noted that voters have a right to know whether Obama is engaged and actively involved.

As Breitbart News has reported, even senior Washington advisors like David Gergen, who has served four presidents from both political parties and intimately understands how the White House operates, said the GAI report should not be dismissed, saying it shows that no one is in charge in the White House and an Obama administration that is bordering on “malfeasance.”

On Friday, Carney said Obama and Sebelius meet “regularly” but their meetings were not recored on the visitors logs. As Breitbart News has reported, Schweizer had previously noted that GAI also looked at White House visitor logs and found that whenever Sebelius went to the White House, it was for social functions with “dozens or hundreds of people.” And he noted on Fox News’s Hannity last Wednesday that if Obama met with Sebelius and left the meeting off the books, Sebelius would be the only cabinet secretary whose meetings with the White House were concealed.

Schweizer also called Time magazine attempted “fact check” a “mere echo of the White House” and said the magazine never even contacted GAI. He said the White House immediately tweeted out Time‘s report and noted that this was another example of the “lapdog media” in action as Time worked with the White House to dismiss the report by repeating the White House’s talking points rather than trying to find out whether the White House was spinning them.

Schweizer said GAI started the investigation because they wanted to know “why the rollout was so disastrous” and mentioned that his organization used similar methods when it discovered that Obama had not been receiving his daily intelligence briefings. That report stood up under intense scrutiny, Schweizer noted, as have others that examined the White House and Obama’s calendar.

He mentioned GAI looked at the White House calendar, Politico‘s White House calendar, and the White House visitors logs that were all independent of one another because  voters have a right to know if the leader of the free world is engaged on his most signature initiative that is impacting one-sixth of the American economy and millions of Americans receiving cancellation notices from their health insurance companies.

After the White House and the Health and Human Services Department alleged Obama and Sebelius “regularly” met without giving any specific dates except for last Thursday, which was a day after the GAI report was released, Schweizer said the White House is in a predicament. He said with the facts that have been made public as of now, it seems like Obama and Sebelius “regularly” met and never discussed the problems with Obamacare and the HealthCare.Gov website or Obama and Sebelius never met, which would show a “profound level of detachment” by Obama. Both scenarios, he said, reflect terribly on Obama.
